F/A Healing Therapy Questions:
What is Healing Therapy (aka: Reiki/energy work)? Reiki consists of a series of gentle, non-intrusive touches through which the practitioner channels healing energy into the recipient at a deep level. Reiki practitioners believe that energy surrounds and moves through the human body. Reiki works to balance the flow of this energy and stimulate the body’s healing abilities.
Reiki/energy work: (Pronounced Ray - Key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force. (Rei= universal, Ki = life force). Reiki is an ancient healing therapy. Reiki is non-invasive and safe for all ages.
How is it performed? Reiki is very simply performed. The client is fully clothed and lies comfortably on a massage table. Background music is playing; sheet/or blanket on you to keep you warm (if needed). The practitioner’s hands are then placed lightly on or just above the body. The practitioner places his/her hands at the different energy points (chakras) on the body for about 2-4 minutes each (or whatever the practitioner feels is appropriate at the time) working along the front and/or the back of the body. As the session begins, the practitioner then sets his/her intent for healing to occur and the energy begins flowing through the practitioner’s hands. The Reiki energy is drawn into the client’s body by whichever area feels that it needs the energy. This may be an emotional, physical, mental or even spiritual area.
Why should I have a Reiki session? Reiki is a great tool for stress reduction and relaxation. A session is pleasant and relaxing and is often utilized for one's personal wellness.
A Reiki session is not a cure for a disease or illness, but it may assist the body in creating an environment that facilitates healing. Reiki is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings. Reiki works in conjunction with all other medical and therapeutic techniques and may assist to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
